The Partnership launched its new HR Network at an event aimed at supporting employers to employ prison leavers

The Oxfordshire Inclusive Economy Partnership (OIEP) held its first HR Network event on Tuesday 18 July 2023, at Activate Learning in Banbury. At the event attendees learned how to support prison leavers in finding employment opportunities. The OIEP's new HR network includes representatives from Seetec Plus, HMPPS, Fedcap, Activate Learning, and Department of Work and Pensions, and supports our work to deliver an inclusive economy for Oxfordshire by sharing knowledge and experience between employers.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity for attendees to learn from employers who are experienced at recruiting, training, and supporting prison leavers. The seminar focused on the benefits of offering people with convictions a fresh career start, including a presentation from HMPPS New Futures Network and case studies from Oxfordshire employers. Attendees also had the chance to learn about the benefits for their organization and the local community, hear inspiring case studies, and network with like-minded employers.

Providing employment opportunities for prison leavers is a great way for organizations to improve their diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility, while resolving skills shortages and increasing staff retention. The OIEP HR Network event was a great success and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future.
